APPENDIX

We choose higher ways of being
transcending self-defeating poisons...
blame, punishment, righteousness, arrogance,
clinging, guarantee, self-pity, and avoidance

Society is addicted to the above poisons (spiritual narcotics), even embracing some of these poisons as "right and good". Like narcotics, they give temporary highs. However, these poisons are the primary cause of most individual and collective ills... physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. And they are just as addictive as physical narcotics.

Until the destructive and addictive powers of these poisons are recognized and acknowledged, no amount of money, medicine, laws, or caring will make a dent in the massive ills and challenges we face.

Blame… currently encouraged by our legal system, media, and others… is out of control. It gives a temporary feeling of doing "right" and feeling important. However… it's avoiding the much more difficult task of looking within and seeking resolution for ALL. Punishment… the next step after blame… will NOT resolve the underlying problems. A shift to natural law thinking of choice and consequences (not punitive) plus involvement by ALL in setting rules and consequences… is the higher path. Offering choices is paramount. Righteousness… being closed to other ways of thinking and believing than one's own… seeking to convert others to the "right" way. This cripples democracy and alienates people. Arrogance… also known as self-importance or better-than… is the top cause of hate towards America, warranted or not. Even if overstated, it is critical to recognize, acknowledge, and resolve such perceptions… if we wish to reduce terrorism, fear, and other crippling forces. Clinging… to the past, negative feelings, old beliefs, "stuff", relationships, addictions, heroes, jobs, money, power, etc. Life flows in cycles (like seasons), where contraction, decay, even death are natural parts. Fighting this flow is hopeless. Working with it (like Aikido) is magic Guarantee… expects guaranteed or risk-free outcomes… blaming others when falling short. An essential step out of this trap is embracing the laws of karma, balance, and responsibility (e.g. allowing or creating one's reality)… plus the power of love to transmute anything. Conversely, we can sabotage anything just by negative thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes. Self-pity… shows up as victim-hood or martyrdom. And it drags well-meaning but unaware enablers into codependency (fueling soap operas, lawyers, bureaucrats, and preachers). The antidotes are similar to those for "guarantee". While very difficult to accept by many, they are incredibly empowering and freeing. Avoidance… is perhaps the most common and elusive poison. Examples include: avoidance of responsibility, discomfort, work, vulnerability, confrontation, rejection, restraint, pain, ridicule, change, truth, etc.

 

Embrace love for all... even enemies

Jesus, Buddha, Ghandi, King, and Lincoln are just a few of the many masters and leaders who taught love of others (including enemies). Why have their followers largely ignored or poorly practiced these teachings? Do we believe them? Do we wish to embrace them? What is required to improve?

Loving those who hate or attack us is very difficult… even if we know how. Perhaps it is time to really learn and master this most difficult of challenges. The rewards will more than compensate for the pain.

 

Use power responsibly... seeking highest good for all

America has received unbelievable gifts and advantages… e.g. land, resources, education, freedom, wealth, leisure, etc. Many believe we have grossly misused them… e.g. domination, self-indulgence, deceit, waste, etc. The results of this misuse are violence, abuse, fear, poverty, pollution, restrictions, and more.

Miracles energize when power is used to benefit all (i.e. love)… creating unlimited abundance, peace, health, and joy.

 

Create a new Constitution… empowering ALL people

We have the education and technology to empower ALL people to participate in government. Our current system has concentrated immense power in the hands of too few… leading to uncontrollable inefficiency, maneuvering, and corruption. More laws and enforcement will only amplify the problems… no matter how well-intended.

We MUST distribute power and responsibility among ALL the people… according to their ability and desires.

 

Create a new Bill of Rights… and Responsibilities

Freedom requires responsibility. Our system encourages irresponsibility by granting many freedoms without teaching, encouraging, and rewarding responsibility. Instead, top-down laws dictate complex and inappropriate demands and punishments… without truly involving all in the process.

It is time to offer inspiring incentives to participate and contribute to other people, nation, and world… drawing the very best from human nature.

Open all government to reinvention... by ALL the people

Our government is hopelessly mired in complexity and bureaucracy… requiring total reexamination and reinvention. Mistrust in leaders, laws, and propaganda is too severe for band-aids and patches.

We need a new start… involving EVERYONE.

 

Open ourselves to reinvention... using all resources

Reinventing the nation begins with reinventing ourselves. We must fearlessly face the greatest of tyrants and deceivers… US.

The poisons listed earlier are the first hurdle. Mastering love is next.

Powerful networks of education and support can facilitate this… largely by inspired and dedicated volunteers. A U.S. Dept. of Peace, Love, and Well-being (mostly volunteer) could also help… IF we keep primary responsibility with the people (i.e. not give away our power).

 

Transcend selfishness... to stewardship

The American dream has encouraged and glorified wealth, power, prestige, and self-indulgence… with massive support from government, television, advertising, and technology.

Humanity (especially the USA) is saturating such pursuits, thirsting for something more. Desperate attempts for more pleasure, excitement, and control are creating ills and addictions of every type… and hatred by have-nots. Continuing this path will create excruciating pain, disease, and violence.

Many know the miraculous fulfillment in stewardship… of people and planet. However… godlike wisdom and love are mandatory to attain such fulfillment.

Appreciate gifts and blessings... including the negative

Gratitude is one of the most miraculous "drugs" for healing and transmuting anything. Setting aside time to inventory and "bless one's blessings" is required on the path to fulfillment and wholeness.

Often, the greatest gifts are hidden in what appears the most hurtful, destructive, and evil. Universal law is based on rhythmic balanced interchange… e.g. day and night, winter and summer, birth and death. How can one know and appreciate one without the other?

 

Seek the purpose of life... and our responsibility to ALL

The big questions… Who are we? Why are we here? What do we need? Humanity is in a collective mid-life crisis… and many are asking these questions. However… many are succumbing to quick-fixes, giving their power away to leaders, gurus, and organizations… settling for anything that will ease their discomfort (i.e. spiritual narcotics).

If humanity is to reach its calling (e.g. heaven on earth), a collective commitment is needed to face our personal and collective dragons, slay them with love, and discover the treasures they ferociously guard.

Courage, perseverance, and humility are mandatory.

 

Embrace forgiveness... no matter the crime

Forgiveness competes with gratitude in power to heal and transmute. Forgiveness does not imply ignoring or dropping transgressions. Forgiveness requires courage and work to truly understand the deeper causes, deeper needs, and hidden opportunities.

Many believe that everything in life is a gift from the divine… even the negative. Will we rise to the challenge?

 

Make amends for errors... transmuting poisons

Making amends may transcend even gratitude and forgiveness in power to heal and transmute. We in the USA have massive "opportunities" to engage this power… i.e. our list of unresolved transgressions is huge.

However… we must first transcend our norm of blame, punishment, and victim mentality. We MUST understand and embrace the universal laws of karma and responsibility to make this giant leap.

THEN… we can make effective and appropriate amends (not punishment), benefiting ALL parties and based on freewill choices (not force).

 

Define and seek "Heaven on Earth"

Heaven on Earth… basking in beautiful gardens of blissfully serene beings. Right?

Wrong.

For many, this would be hell… boring, stagnant, unchallenging.

So what IS "Heaven on Earth"?

Perhaps we need public dialogue and dreaming to define it…

and then seek it.
